Operations Manager
Overview of the Role
The Operations Manager for Domestic, Commercial & Agricultural Solar oversees the end-to-end installation operations for Mitros’s small to medium-scale solar projects. This role manages multiple teams that install solar PV systems on homes, businesses, and farms, ensuring that each project – from a 4 kW domestic rooftop to a 200 kW agricultural shed – is delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high quality standard. The Operations Manager coordinates across departments (sales, design, procurement, customer service) to streamline the journey from customer order to completed installation. In a fast-growing company, this role is key to scaling up installation capacity while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction. The Operations Manager ensures that even as the volume of installations increases, Mitros continues to meet promised timelines (e.g. the company goal of domestic installs within 2 weeks of deposit) and uphold its reputation for top-notch solar solutions in every market segment.
Key Responsibilities

Overall Operations Management: Oversee and manage the end-to-end operations of Mitros’s domestic, commercial, and agricultural solar installation teams, from project planning and scheduling through on-site installation and final commissioning . Ensure a seamless execution process for each project, regardless of size, by coordinating between sales, design/engineering, and field installation teams.

Scheduling & Resource Allocation: Develop and maintain a master schedule for all ongoing installations (residential, commercial, and agricultural). Ensure that small domestic projects are scheduled and completed within the targeted timeframe (e.g. within 2 weeks of deposit payment) by efficiently allocating crews and resources. For larger
commercial or farm projects, assign dedicated project managers or team leads as needed and supervise their progress. Balance manpower across different project streams to avoid bottlenecks and meet all client deadlines.

Team Leadership: Lead multiple installation crews and their frontline supervisors (including electricians, roofers, technicians, and project coordinators), ensuring they align with company values and project goals. Provide guidance and set performance targets (KPIs such as installation cycle time, quality metrics, customer satisfaction) for teams, and monitor performance against these targets. Conduct regular team meetings or briefings to address challenges, provide feedback, and keep motivation high.

Standardisation & Quality Control: Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for solar installations across all sectors (domestic/commercial/agri). This includes standardising workflows for site assessment, installation, quality checks, and safety protocols to ensure consistency and high workmanship quality on every job. Work with the Quality and H&S teams to enforce quality control measures and safety compliance on each installation. Conduct spot inspections or site visits to verify that work meets Mitros’s standards and any issues are corrected promptly.

Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Sales and Customer Service teams to streamline project kick-off. For example, ensure that once a customer pays a deposit, their project information is handed over quickly and accurately for scheduling. Communicate installation schedules and any changes to customers in a timely, professional manner to maintain high customer satisfaction. Coordinate with the Design/Engineering department to confirm that system designs are completed on time and are buildable, and with Procurement to guarantee all equipment (panels, inverters, mounting kits, etc.) arrive on site as needed.

Logistics & Supply Chain: Oversee the logistics of equipment and material deliveries for all projects. Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of solar panels, inverters, mounting structures and other materials to each project site. Manage inventory and lead times by forecasting needs based on the project schedule, and have contingency plans for any supply delays (e.g. alternative suppliers or stock buffers). Optimise the use of installation equipment and vehicles across teams to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

Budget & Cost Management: In conjunction with the finance and procurement teams, manage the operational budgets for the domestic/commercial/agri installation division. Monitor costs on projects (labour hours, equipment usage, subcontractors, etc.) and implement efficiency measures to keep projects within budget without compromising safety or quality. Approve and track expenses such as overtime or equipment rentals, and seek opportunities to reduce costs (for instance, bulk ordering materials or smarter scheduling to reduce travel) while maintaining output.

Process Improvement & Scaling: Identify areas for process optimisation within installation operations and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity. This can include adopting new project management tools, refining communication protocols between office and field, or introducing new technologies (like remote monitoring of installation progress). As Mitros expands, ensure processes scale appropriately – for example, establishing regional installation teams or new training programs to meet growing demand. Stay updated on industry best practices in solar installation and continuously refine Mitros’s operational approach

Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the status of domestic, commercial, and agricultural operations. Report on key performance indicators: e.g. number of installations completed weekly/monthly, average lead times, any delays or issues, safety incidents, customer feedback scores, etc. Flag any risks to project delivery (such as resource shortfalls or permit issues) early and propose mitigation plans. Lead internal ops meetings to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned on current priorities and challenges.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar is strongly preferred. In lieu of a degree, significant experience in solar operations management or electrical/construction project management will be considered.

Industry Experience: Proven experience in the solar industry with a focus on managing multiple simultaneous installation projects. Preferably 5+ years in project management or operations roles, including substantial exposure to residential (domestic) solar projects. Experience should demonstrate ability to deliver projects on time and manage field teams effectively. Knowledge of commercial-scale solar installations and agricultural PV systems (e.g. solar on farms or barns) is a plus.

Project Management & Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in managing field teams. Past roles should show an ability to supervise and coordinate crews or technicians across different locations. A project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) is advantageous, indicating formal training in project planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of solar PV system installation practices across various contexts. This includes knowledge of rooftop solar processes (for homes and commercial buildings) and ground-mount systems (for agricultural or large commercial setups), AC/DC electrical work, system commissioning and troubleshooting basics. Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, such as the National Rules for Electrical Installations (I.S. 10101 in Ireland) and any applicable building regulations or grant scheme requirements (e.g. SEAI grants for domestic solar).

Regulatory Compliance: Good knowledge of health and safety requirements for solar construction/installation in Ireland. Safe Pass certified (required) and an understanding of H&S best practices to ensure crews work safely (even though dedicated H&S officers oversee safety, the Operations Manager must reinforce it). Awareness of planning permission processes for larger installations and ESB Networks’ grid connection procedures for systems of various sizes is beneficial.

Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational and time-management abilities. Must be adept at multitasking and prioritising in a dynamic environment – since dozens of projects may be in progress concurrently. Experience with project management software or scheduling tools (e.g. MS Project, CRM systems, or solar-specific platforms) is expected for tracking progress and coordinating tasks.

Communication & Customer Service: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills . Should be able to effectively communicate with team members, executives, and customers alike. A customer-centric mindset is important: this role often interfaces with clients to address scheduling queries or on-site concerns. Fluency in English is required, including the ability to write clear emails/reports and present updates.

Driving Licence: A valid full driving licence is required, as the job involves regular travel to various project sites. The candidate should be willing to be on the road visiting sites ~50%+ of the time, with remaining time in office for planning.

The candidate should be comfortable with change and the challenges of scaling operations – e.g. adapting processes as the volume of projects increases, or integrating new product offerings (battery storage, EV chargers) into the install workflow.
